Adobe buys Omniture – a few quick thoughts
I do not want to spread the whole story again, i think you can find lots of details about the acquisition of Omniture by Adobe out there in the web.
I just want to share a few thoughts about this:
1: Google bought Urchin (which went well)
2: Yahoo bought Indextools (which is about to turn well)
3: Adobe buys Omniture. This should at least turn Omnitures current price-agressive market behaviour combined with some expensive acquisitions in the last year into a less explosive financial situation. Further, Another big player finally bought his own analytics solution. Keeps the question open for me why Adobe needs this? We will see.
4: Microsoft cancelled Gatineau. Maybe they will acquire webtrendsnetstadtcoremetricsetracker?
5: What about all the other big players? There were several rumors about SAP and Oracle and so on and so on.
I don´t think that the market situation became better for the big analytics vendors in the past years since GA and YA offer really powerful solutions for free (well, even if not free for all, but free). Finally it looks like Omniture is laying corfortable in the strong arms of Adobe and should have enough buffer by now to continue on challenging other vondors in pricing and support. Good for the customers, eh? We will see.
